Peasmarsh Cantilever Oak Staircase Project (East Sussex)
Set within a private residence in Peasmarsh, this project centred around a clean, minimal cantilevered oak staircase with the primary steel structure fully concealed within the supporting wall. By hiding the stringer entirely, the staircase reads as a sequence of floating oak treads, maintaining a light and understated presence within the space.
The staircase is complemented by fully frameless glass balustrades, chosen to preserve uninterrupted sightlines and allow natural light to move freely through the stairwell. A bespoke solid oak handrail was designed specifically for this project, with integrated LED lighting discreetly embedded within the handrail profile to provide subtle, functional illumination without introducing visual clutter.
Careful attention was given to the proportion, finish, and junction detailing to ensure the staircase felt architectural rather than dominant — a piece that supports the space rather than competing with it. As with all our projects, the staircase was designed, fabricated, and installed by our team to ensure consistency from concept through to completion.
