Zigzag Oak Staircase for a Private Residence in Ovingdean, East Sussex
We were commissioned by a private client in Ovingdean, East Sussex to design, construct, and install a natural oak zigzag stringer staircase. The client requested a sleek, modern aesthetic without any handrails, resulting in a minimalist and striking design.
The staircase is crafted with a zigzag stringer profile and features a distinctive feature tread at the bottom. Beneath this tread, we integrated a hidden LED lighting system that provides a gentle glow and ambient illumination at night.
The entire staircase is finished in a natural golden oak tone, enhancing the warmth and elegance of the wood. While the staircase itself has no handrails, the fully frameless 17.5mm toughened laminated glass balustrade around the landing is elegantly hidden behind a matching oak apron detail.
This entire project — from survey to manufacturing, design, and installation — was proudly delivered by Brighton Stairs.
