Floating Cantilever Staircase in Rottingdean
In Rottingdean, East Sussex, we recently had the pleasure of working on a floating cantilever staircase for a client who knew exactly what they wanted. They approached us directly with a vision: a sleek, minimalist staircase that seemed to float right out of the wall, and we were more than happy to bring it to life.
We handled all the hidden metalwork inside the wall to make sure the cantilevered treads had the support they needed. The client had a marble-effect porcelain tiled wall planned, so we worked carefully to ensure everything lined up perfectly and the treads created just the right shadow gaps without putting any stress on those tiles.
The client was also keen on having specialist dotless LEDs for a super clean lighting effect, all smart home connected. We hid all the wiring behind the plasterboard and tiles, so everything stayed nice and tidy. We matched a 55mm oak handrail to the golden oak treads, and we made sure all the fixings were completely hidden, giving it that seamless, floating look. We also installed a matching landing balustrade that turned back on itself to keep the design consistent throughout.
In the end, the client was absolutely over the moon with how it all turned out. It was exactly what they envisioned, and we were thrilled to help bring this floating cantilever staircase in Rottingdean to life.
